This is just what Old City needed---a hip but tasteful spot that caters to the over thirty crowd, with straight-from-the-market cooking, and a wine list that is always a work in progress. Designer Marguerite Rodgers left the high ceilings and cast-iron columns in this historically certified building, but wrapped them in muted tone of greens and golds. The lounge area at the front, with the usual concrete bar, is very popular with singles as well as couples. In the rear, diners may observe the open kitchen from high-backed banquettes. Partners Ellen Yin and Roberto Sella base the menu on fresh, seasonal ingredients and many organic products. Chef Thien Ngo prepares Chilean sea bass with a horseradish herb crust, lamb chops with tomato eggplant ragout and a spinach salad topped with a fig vinaigrette and warm goat cheese wrapped in prosciutto. Sella has designed a thoughtful wine list with real concern for value and individuality; it more than complements the food.
