Jean –George Vongerichten has come to Chicago! Those expecting a carbon copy of his much criticized ill-fated outposts in London, New York and Hong Kong however will be reassured to learn that this venture is rather different from its counterparts in that it’s a much more casual affair offering diners Thai-French fusion cuisine with up-market accents and pretty presentations in a relaxed setting. Tuna Wasabi Pizza is an interesting choice for the adventurous, or theres a much more down to earth selection of Curries and wok fried dishes too if you want something a little more familiar. Fans of the original Vong’s will be glad to see that there are a few holdovers from the original menu, including the signature Black Plate of appetizers (shrimp satay, tuna sashimi roll, chicken-scallion satay, Peking duck roll, and crab roll).Candles and palms boost the romance quotient by night, but this pragmatic venue is also a strong candidate for a working lunch by day.
