Since 1967 the Via Veneto restaurant has maintained its’ position as one of the best and most cosmopolitan restaurants in Barcelona. Father and son duo José and Pedro Monje¨ manage the 40-strong team of culinary professionals and have maintained the reputation of the restaurant despite the current influx of new arrivals in the city. Don’t let the name mislead you, no pizza-pasta here but a notable Catalan Modernist decor and extremely good classic Catalan classic cooking blended with lighter, new European fare by star chef Josep Muniesa. Seafood specialities like Sea-Scallops with Citrus fruits and camagroc mushrooms will excite the palette, as will the game in season which may include roasted Venison marinated in rancid wine with chestnuts or Hare A La Royale. Sommelier Francisco Jose Martinez supervises more than 10,000 bottles of wine, kept at constant temperature and humidity conditions, 5 meters underground in the heart of Via Veneto’s wine cellar.
