A torchbearer of Kiwi cuisine, Sid Sahrawat, a pacific islander of The Grove restaurant, applies what he describes as a "modern New Zealand approach" to cuisine. "New Zealand culture is so 'multi-cultural' - European, Asian, Middle Eastern, Polynesian and Pacific - that we draw on different eating experiences.” At the Grove Sarawat uses ingredients that are native to New Zealand, but his influences and cooking style come from a lot of the other cultures that remain present there. Sumac spiced ostrich, pear parsnip purée, dates, haloumi, & dukkah is a veritable tour of the world’s cuisine on one plate and Loin & saddle of lamb, ‘spaghetti’ of swede, pistachio, lavender & Persian feta mixes the best of New Zealand’s ingredients with international panache. Classic and understated white and beige interiors and a front of house staff with a passion and love for the industry that rivals the back of house makes for a flawless, five star dining experience.
