'Shanahan's On The Green' serves an excellent American menu that specialises in wonderful Angus steaks varying in size from the 8oz Petite Filet to the 24oz Bone-In Rib Eye. Seafood dominates the starters and if you've room for dessert, you'll be lucky. Owned by Bostonian John Shanahan and run by Martin Clegg, the elegant dining rooms of the fine old Georgian building make for a suitably special dining experience that's opulent, but not stuffily formal. The 'Oval Office' bar downstairs features memorabilia of U.S. Presidents with Irish connections and private rooms can be booked for groups. It's expensive and you'll need to book well in advance, but it's worth it for food, service and atmosphere
