Your guide to the best restaurants and hotels from around the world
Gordon Ramsay had better watch over his shoulder as the greatest competition to his Hospital road establishment may well come from a protégé from within his very own circle! Marcus Wareing has been working at the Berkley
in Messr Ramsays’ shadow for the last few years, but not even he could argue that through Petrus, Wareing has earned the mantle of of one Britains best exponents of haute cuisine. Recently garnering a second michelin star in this years guide ( a feat that outstar’s all but the famed Signature hospital road restaurant in the ramsay holdings empire) Petrus is the restaurant on everyones mind at the moment as epicureans and critics alike wait in earnest to see if Wareing can enhance further his already stirling menu to capture a coveted third star over the next twelve months. On first impressions this may simply be a matter of playing the waiting game with dishes like poached quails’ eggs & caviar and Pan fried foie gras with English rhubarb, hazelnuts and black pepper just two examples from an exquisite menu spearheading its way into the conversations of the nations hard to pleasefoodies. Naturally as one would expect of a restaurant that takes its name from a chateau in the Bordeaux region of France there’s no shortages of fine French wine to choose from to accompany your meal, with decadent vintage varietals alongside some moderately priced offerings too. A gastronomic fortress of exceptional magnitude, long may Wareing reign as king of the castle.
