This cool, Scandinavian-themed restaurant, with its wood-burning stove and dizzyingly high chimney, offers a decent set lunch as well as an impressive selection of vodkas from around the world. The dinner menu has an array of unfamiliar ingredients and combinations, with a particular emphasis on pairing meat with fruits like cherries, raspberries and plums. Most dishes succeed admirably, particularly the veal spring roll. But a restaurant this adventurous is bound to be hit-and-miss, and a few offerings, such as a polenta scone with goat's cheese and dill, fall flat. Olsen also offers an excellent Sunday brunch, served from 10.30am to 8pm, with a mix-and-match menu that allows for tempting combinations, such as smoked salmon with potato pancakes. Accompanied by bagel-style rolls and washed down with a glass of champagne, this is the perfect way to revive yourself after a late Saturday night.
