Le Cristal Room caters to a slightly more soigné crowd than most places. The menu is decidedly French - langoustines, canard, oeufs etc - though the patrons seated beneath the ethereal cloud-strewn ceiling on pink cameo-emblazoned banquettes are as likely to hail from Pasadena or Prague as from Paris. There's a three-month wait-list for dinner, but insiders know that the "no reservations" breakfast policy means walk-ins are welcome for petit dejeuner (served from 8:30 to 10 a.m., Monday - Saturday). A splendid wine list and Lip Smackingly good French cuisine –the masterstroke of chef Thierry Burlot- combine to guarantee a truly romantic affair is enjoyed by all. An archetype of texture and flavour Burlot displays his natural enigmatic flair in such dishes as hot bouillon poured over jellied oysters or black truffle risotto. Make sure to check out the Baccarat Gallery Museum's surreal installations (a monumental chandelier "floating" in a glass tank, an eight-inch-tall crystal chair) before you leave.
