On the top two floors of the Luis Vuitton building, above the Kenwood flagship store is perched Kong, the Phillip Starck and Jacques Ory’s designed restaurant that is, "a collision of modern and ancient Japan". Starck’s trademark flair is accentuated perfectly by Ory’s spacious concept that utilizes fluorescent lighting and planed glass to full effect. And as for the view…The Seine meanders through a city vista that’s reminiscent of a Monet etching, creating a panorama so spectacular it almost warrants the long waiting list on it’s own. Yet besides being tragically hip and attracting international star clientele, the true star of the show is chef Richard Pommies who orchestrates the delectable, Fumiko Kono designed pan-Asian menu with great aplomb. The comprehensive bill of fare has everything from Charbroiled Veal and California Rolls to an impressive Cheese display and a vast selection of sorbets. And as if there was any doubt the contemporary cuisine is served by a waitstaff that's as darling as the clientele themselves.
