After a sleek £1Million summer refurb the jewel in culinary king Gordon Ramsay’s crown is back up and running…and initial opinion is that London’s only 3 Michelin starred eatery is better than ever before. A lavish elegant backdrop and attentive service remain as standard, whilst Sommelier Ronan Sayburn is still on hand to offer recommendations from what is unquestionably London’s best wine list. Those lucky enough to secure a reservation will still be able to enjoy signature dishes such as the wonderful ravioli of lobster, langoustine and salmon poached in a light bisque with a lemongrass and chervil velouté, and the spectacular Pineapple Ravioli with Mango and raspberries is still there too and of course there’s the signature wild sea bass with a paysanne of vegetables, pasta, borlotto beans, pak choi and cep velouté that’s almost as much a staple as Maitre’d Jean Claude Breton’s omnipresent cheshire cat grin. What really strikes a chord (as well as the taste buds) however, are the new gastronomic delights conjured up by culinary maestro Simone Zanoni, who has competently taken the reigns in Ramsay’s absence. Clearly not humbled by his patron’s creative infamy, Zanoni’s dishes may actually, at times, hold grounds for one-upmanship over him. With entree’s like Chargrilled monkfish tail with crispy duck, red and yellow peppers, flat parsley and red wine sauce it’s clear that Hospital road still possesses a firm desire to remain atop the world’s top eclectic establishments…much to our pallettes delight.
