Known as the birthplace of Californian cuisine Alice Waters continues to serve as an inspiration to hundreds of chefs who emulate her obsession with sourcing sustainable products after 35 years. Chefs have come and gone over the years, but the restaurant continues to influence how America eats. The ingredients are showcased in a single menu that changes each night, making diners feel like they're eating in somebody's home. Chef duties are split between Jean-Pierre Moulle and David Tanis, each of whom work half the year. The restaurant has an elegant Craftsman ambience.
